Ford Transit security as we all know is pretty poor and Ford vans are notorious for having the drivers door lock gripped and twisted out. This in turn results in the van locking system being compromised and the central locking system unlocking the van. Bypassing the locking system on any Ford van can unlock the load area leaving access to tools and expensive equipment. The answer to prevent this is simple! Upgrade the drivers door lock to keep the van doors locked! This can be achieved with different types of van security locks. Commonly van deadlocks or other van security products, however this still doesn’t prevent the drivers door lock being attacked and compromising the van security. It is often thought that fitting an Armaplate suitable for the ford Transit Van will prevent the van door lock from being attacked, It will help prevent grip and twist but it will not prevent a strong square drive being inserted into the lock and forcing the barrel round.
As the UK largest retailer of the Hykee lock (replock) system we are often asked ” How easy is it to DIY self install and upgrade the vans security. Installing the replock will take 10 mins and the benefits are immeasurable.
Ford Transit – Grip and twist attack
The installation process from start to finish should take no more than 10 minutes for the experienced or, being conservative, we’d say 20 minutes for the novice. To purchase your Hykee replock visit our website here.
First off you will need to locate the fixings on the drivers door panel. Most of these can be seen. However on the Transit MK8 and the Transit Custom you will need to pop off the red reflector and pull up the mirror/window switch to expose the screws. Once all fixings have been removed you will carefully need to remove the inner door splash lining, We suggest cutting this with a Stanley blade along the glue/adhesive. Once peeled back, remove the lock retaining clip. This slides towards the left. Insert the key into the drivers door lock and turn clockwise. Insert a screwdriver down the lock retaining block hole, This is located at 9 O’clock between the white nylon “C” shaped block. Push the driver down the hole and keep medium pressure on, whilst turning the key “Anti clockwise”, this enables the lock to turn 90 degrees left until stopping, Pull lock and key gently out towards yourself and the lock will come out.

Do I need to drill or cut my door?
There is no reason to modify, drill, file or do any modifications to the vehicle to install the replock, these are a direct replacement.
Once you have carried out the Ford Hykee replock installation you may also want to consider other van security products to not only prevent damage to the van doors but also enhance the security of the van doors and its contents. By offering a complete range of van security products to secure the Transit and Custom vans we highly recommend Anti peel High level hooks locks to compliment the replock system. Fitted to the load area doors at high level these hook deadlocks prevent the doors from being peeled down. A common and very aggressive form of forced attack. For an even better more secure system adding the Ford wiring Loom guards to the cab doors and rear barn doors can prevent the wiring looms being cut are pretty much essential nowadays, especially if a Hykee replock has been fitted as this is the next stage of forced attack.
There are many ways to secure loads to the van roof, safely and securely. Prevent van theft by fitting a pedal box to prevent the brake, clutch and accelerator being used. More information on this Ford van accessories and products can be found here.
