Fire Safety Products for Fire Doors and Building Protection

Fire safety products are an essential part of protecting people, property and escape routes in residential, commercial and public buildings. Whether you're maintaining a single fire door or fitting out an entire building, choosing the correct fire safety products helps ensure doors perform as intended during a fire.

At Garrison Locks, we supply a wide range of fire safety products from trusted manufacturers, including Abloy Security, dormakaba, Fireco, Union and Rutland.

Why Fire Safety Products Matter

A fire door is only as effective as the hardware fitted to it. Every component plays an important role in helping to slow the spread of fire and smoke while protecting evacuation routes.

Missing, damaged or incorrectly fitted fire door hardware can affect the performance of a fire door and may result in it failing an inspection.

Using tested, compatible fire safety products helps maintain the integrity of the complete fire door assembly.

Fire Safety Products We Supply

Our range includes products suitable for new installations, maintenance and fire door upgrades.

Intumescent Strips and Smoke Seals

Intumescent strips expand when exposed to heat, sealing the gap between the door and frame to help prevent the spread of fire. Many products also incorporate smoke seals to reduce the passage of cold smoke before temperatures rise.

These are available for FD30 and FD60 fire doors in a variety of sizes and finishes.

Fire Door Closers

Fire door closers ensure doors close automatically after use, helping maintain the fire compartmentation of a building.

We supply overhead door closers and concealed options from leading manufacturers, suitable for a wide range of commercial and residential applications.

Door Hold Open Devices

Door hold open devices allow fire doors to remain open during normal use while automatically releasing them when the fire alarm is activated.

These systems improve accessibility and convenience without compromising fire safety.

Fire-Rated Hinges and Hardware

Every component fitted to a fire door must be suitable for fire door use.

Our range includes:

• Fire-rated hinges

• Locks and latches

• Panic and emergency exit hardware

• Door furniture

• Flush bolts

• Strike plates

• Intumescent hinge pads and protection kits

Choosing certified fire-rated hardware helps ensure every part of the door assembly works together during a fire.

Trusted Fire Safety Brands

We supply products from some of the industry's leading manufacturers, including:

• Abloy Security

• dormakaba

• Fireco

• Union

• Rutland

These brands are recognised throughout the construction, facilities management and locksmith industries for producing high-quality fire safety solutions.

Choosing the Right Fire Safety Products

Selecting the correct products depends on several factors, including:

• Fire door rating (FD30 or FD60)

• Whether smoke protection is required

• Building type

• Frequency of use

• Accessibility requirements

• Existing fire door specification

Using compatible products that have been tested as part of a fire door assembly helps maintain the door's intended fire performance.

Fire Door Maintenance

Fire doors should be inspected regularly to ensure they continue to operate correctly.

Common issues include:

• Damaged or missing intumescent seals

• Worn hinges

• Faulty door closers

• Doors that fail to self-close

• Excessive gaps around the door

• Damaged locks or latches

Replacing worn components with suitable fire-rated products can often restore the performance of the door without requiring a complete replacement.
